About us
TSO, established in 1909, is one of Norway's leading cultural institutions, based in Olavshallen, Trondheim. The orchestra is comprised of eighty-five permanently employed musicians. Included in this number are ten string players in combined positions playing in both the TSO and the Trondheim Soloists. Trondheim Vokalensemble (TVE) is also affiliated with TSO's activities, primarily in opera and choral works. In addition, Trondheim Symphonic Opera Choir (TSO-koret) is a natural part of our opera productions. TSO offers a rich repertoire spanning from Baroque to contemporary music and opera. Through concerts, educational outreach, and community engagement, TSO aims to deliver powerful musical experiences for all. From the autumn 2025, TSO will be led by Adam Hickox as its new Chief Conductor, ushering in an exciting new chapter.
TSO is committed to diversity, equality and inclusion in our orchestra and all aspects of our organization. We encourage musicians of all backgrounds and identities to apply for this position.
